Allied Mobility recently launched a new rental service for wheelchair accessible vehicles, Open Road Accessible Rentals.
Unique Service
Open Road opened its doors to customers last Autumn and interest in the service has been flooding in from all over the UK ever since. The introduction of the service makes Allied Mobility one of only a handful of companies nationwide that offer accessible vehicle rentals to wheelchair users, their families, day centres and hospitals.
Accessibility
A number of different wheelchair accessible vehicles are available at competitive rates for short or longer term hire including mobility cars, MPVs and minibuses. All vehicles are designed and manufactured to meet stringent safety standards and come with a variety of accessible features that include lightweight folding ramps or passenger lifts, high quality wheelchair restraints and electric winch systems.
Tried and Tested
Annette Parker, manager of The Mungo Foundations’ Assisi House in Glasgow, is currently renting a Citroen Lifestyle WAV on the Open Road scheme and couldn’t be happier with the service.
“The Lifestyle is exactly suited to the needs of the house as many of our clients have learning and physical disabilities and need a car with easy access. The electric winch is especially helpful for clients in wheelchairs.”
The staff at Assisi House are responsible for taking their clients out on regular day trips to improve their social interaction. “With the Lifestyle we can get to places we wouldn’t normally be able to go like shopping centres, to pantomimes and to take our clients to necessary appointments. There are not a lot of companies offering a rental service for the disabled and we were delighted with the service we received from the Open Road team” said Annette.
Peter Ferguson, who runs PDF Productions, is another happy customer. He rented a minibus to take Keith Jack, runner up of BBC talent show Any Dream Will Do, on tour around the UK. “The bus suited our purpose exactly, it had loads of space for our gear and it drove really well. The tour spanned across the UK and we did eighteen venues and drove around 2500miles!” said Peter. “We will definitely be using Open Road for our tour next year!”
