Allied Supports Muscle Week

Allied Supports Muscle Week

18/02/2009

Allied Mobility continued its support of featured charities by raising nearly £1500 for the Muscular Dystrophy campaign, with staff arranging a host of fund-raising activities.

Worthy Cause

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is the only UK charity that focuses on all types of muscle disease.  Muscular dystrophy is a progressive muscle wasting disease that affects 60,000 people throughout the UK.  Currently there is no cure and the MD Campaign focuses its efforts on raising awareness of the disease and finding new ways to treat it to help improve the lives of its sufferers.

As part of their fund-raising efforts Muscular Dystrophy ran Muscle Week for companies interesting in supporting the charity and Allied Mobility were more than happy to rally together to show their support.

The Big Event

Ideas came flying in from all over the company on how to raise the most cash with the winning suggestions being a silent auction for a variety of fantastic prizes, a bake sale and a larger than life raffle!

There was a mad rush for the cookies, brownies and tablet at the bake sale which brought in over three hundred pounds alone as staff revealed their hitherto hidden culinary talents.

Competition was also fierce during the silent auction, with several staff bidding to win luxury hotel stays, golf days and mystery prizes. Leighanne, customer service adviser, won the top mystery prize of a big screen TV.  “I was up against a number of my friends for the top prize and I didn’t stop bidding until I’d got it.  It was a really great day for the staff and we raised a huge amount of money for MD Campaign”, she said.

Chris Havers, corporate fund-raising manager, said “We're absolutely delighted with Allied Mobility’s efforts.  The money raised will really make a difference for the charity and to MD sufferers throughout the UK."
