Allied Mobility, the UK’s leading supplier of wheelchair cars, MPVs and minibuses, supported the Disability North Exhibition (DNEX) in its fifth year and caused quite a stir with their on-stand entertainment.
On the Day
DNEX, run by the independent charity Disability North, was held at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle and saw organisations from around the country gather together to display assistive equipment, housing adaptations and services for people with a variety of disabilities.
The event also featured a number of charities and a voluntary sector area, highlighting support networks and organisations working with disabled people, job seekers, disabled children, parents and carers.
Grabbing Attention
Allied Mobility attended the event to show the ever popular Peugeot Horizon disability vehicle. The UK’s best-selling wheelchair accessible car, which is exclusive to Allied, is specially adapted for wheelchair users with lowered floor, wheelchair ramp, wheelchair restraint system and wheelchair passenger seatbelt. The vehicle has ample space for driver, wheelchair passenger and two seated passengers and is available to buy, rent or through the UK-wide Motability Scheme.
Also featured on Allied’s stand was balloon modeler extraordinaire - Ian Lowe. Ian wowed the show’s visitors with fantastic balloon creations including ladybirds, alien spaceships, elephants and even a monkey climbing a large banana tree. He created quite a stir with the crowd who gathered round Allied’s stand to watch him at work.
Luck’s in
Allied offered visitors the chance to enter into an exclusive prize draw which was held over both days of the event, to win a satellite navigation system worth £150. The lucky winners were Lesley Mitcheson of Ashington and Barb Rankin of Redcar.
Barb said: “I go to Disability North every year and I found the event fantastic, this time around. I was absolutely delighted when I got the call from Allied Mobility to say I’d won the Sat Nav, I’m so chuffed.”
Lesley commented: “I’m over the moon with winning, I really never win anything. I’m so glad I visited Allied’s stand, not only were the staff helpful, but I ended up winning a prize!”
A Great Success
Disability North attracted over 5,000 visitors this year and has been hailed a success by organisers and exhibitors.
Terry Mallon, Disability North’s Chief Executive Officer, stated: ‘We’ve had a really enjoyable DNEX and the feedback shows that it’s been the most successful exhibition we’ve had for some years. “
“Despite the bad weather on the 1st day of the show, there was still an excellent visitor turn out. We consider the exhibition to be an extension of our services and we’re delighted with the way it is developing and improving overall.”
