Chris Penny and his family are celebrating after finding out he's the lucky winner of a £1,000 Freedom Voucher competition ran by Allied Mobility.
Chris, from Shropshire, was delighted to win and is already planning what to spend the voucher on. Chris comments: “My daughter, Hannah, has been a wheelchair user all her life and needs round the clock care.
"She loves the outdoors so we are always out and about. We currently own a wheelchair accessible vehicle but are due to renew it in November so we might put the money towards an Advance Payment on a new wheelchair car.”
Chris, who himself is a marathon runner and very active, continues: “Unfortunately Hannah lost her mum to Leukaemia a few years ago so the two of us were keen to do some fundraising for a Leukaemia charity. I carried Hannah up Ben Nevis and we’ve also been up the Himalayas.
“Myself and my wife, Veronica, have always been keen to give Hannah as fulfilled a life as we could; she’s been all over the world with me. It would be great to take the whole family on a holiday which is accessible for Hannah so we might put the voucher towards that.”
Chris entered Allied's competition simply by completing an entry card. The winner of the Freedom Voucher can use the money on anything to help with mobility or physical accessibility. Chris’s card was the first picked out of hundreds of entries received for the competition.
Local Allied Mobility consultant, Darren McDonald, visited Chris and his family to present them with the voucher.
