Elizabeth Robbins, from Oldham in Lancashire, loves nothing more than getting out and about in her scooter. However, with colder winters and lack of summers she had to find a vehicle that could scoot them both about, come rain or shine.
Solving the Problem
Elizabeth needed a car that could accommodate the size of her scooter as well as having automatic drive. She was having difficulty finding a vehicle that met these requirements until she got in touch with Allied Mobility. Elizabeth explains: “I was searching for a particular type of car and Allied Mobility came recommended in the Motability price guide. I was really surprised how low the Advance Payment was for their automatic mobility car!”. She chose the Renault Autograph from Allied’s range of accessible vehicles and has never looked back.
The Autograph, based on the zippy and stylish Renault Kangoo, is specially adapted for wheelchair or scooter users with a lightweight folding rear ramp, electric winch system and high quality restraints. The car comes with the choice of manual or automatic transmission and is available with air conditioning, metallic paint and CD player. Elizabeth says: “The Autograph looks neat and compact but actually has fantastic room inside, my scooter fits in perfectly. The boot space is also brilliant and I can enjoy better visibility because of the big windows. It even has much better lighting for driving at night.”
Elizabeth hates the colder weather and she can’t wait to take the Autograph for longer spins when the sun starts to shine. “It’ll be so much easier now going to visit my daughter Susan in Bristol and I’ll be able to pop out shopping whenever I want. There’s great ShopMobility in Stratford and I love getting out to Cribbs Causeway to the big stores like John Lewis and Marks and Spencers. The extra boot space in the Autograph means I can take home even more shopping!” exclaimed Elizabeth.
Elizabeth found the staff at Allied Mobility really supportive from start to finish. Elizabeth comments: “The service was excellent. My representative John couldn’t have been nicer. There was no question left unanswered.”
