Out and About with Independence™

Lesley Head was on the hunt for a new vehicle for the whole family.  She was looking for something to make her daughter, five-year-old Tia’s life easier.  Tia has Cerebral Palsy and uses a wheelchair full time.  Now though, family life has been transformed with the delivery of their brand-new wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) from Allied Mobility.  Their Ford Independence™ sits pride of place in the driveway and they couldn’t be happier.

Time For An Upgrade

The Head family, from Pontypool in Wales, had never owned a WAV before.  When Tia was a baby, they carried her from the house to the car but as she grew older, they found it more of a challenge.  When Tia started using a powered wheelchair not long ago, Lesley realised they desperately needed a ramp.  Using a mobile ramp combined with their old people carrier certainly didn’t cut it so they explored the option of a wheelchair accessible vehicle on the Motability Scheme.

Care From Start To Finish

When Lesley got in touch with Allied Mobility, she found everything she was looking for.

She enthused: “It’s such an easy process and we were looked after from start to finish.”

With their dedicated mobility consultant, John, providing them all the accessibility information they needed, they narrowed down Allied Mobility’s range to the ideal model for their needs.  For the Head family, the Ford Independence™ ticked all the boxes.

For Tia, the low gradient EasyFold™ ramp helped her get in and out safely and securely and for the rest of the family, the spacious interior allowed for a comfortable and luxurious drive.

Lesley continued: “The Independence is such a wonderful drive, completely different to our previous cars.  It’s so easy to get Tia in and out and we can finally go anywhere we fancy without having to plan everything.”

On the Up with the Independence

Since taking delivery of their new Independence™, things have just got better and better.  From days out with the whole family to simply nipping out to the shops, Lesley can’t believe how much easier life is with their new car.

Lesley explained: “It’s night and day from before.  I can’t believe how much time we had to spend preparing for going out anywhere.  Thanks to the new Independence we can get out and enjoy living!”
