Horizon Makes Mobility Easier

Life as a full time carer can be very challenging.  Agnes Brown, from Carluke, Lanarkshire, is dedicated to caring for her disabled husband, Donald, who needs round the clock care.  Thankfully Agnes has some assistance from carers who visit her four times a day to help out.

Independence and Mobility

Getting out and about and maintaining independence is something that Agnes values.  Whilst looking for a mobility car that would allow her to get out easily and allow Donald to travel with her remaining in his wheelchair, Agnes discovered Allied Mobility’s range of wheelchair accessible vehicles.  She explains: “Allied have a great range and the one that stood out the most for me was the Horizon.  It’s like having two cars in one because of its handy new wheelchair ramp.”

Unique FlexiFold™ Wheelchair Ramp

Based on the Peugeot Partner, the Peugeot Horizon is a versatile wheelchair accessible car.  It’s unique FlexiFold™ wheelchair ramp offers excellent access and the lowered floor and low ramp gradient combine to provide quick and easy wheelchair entry and exit.  Shorter in length, the FlexiFold™ ramp needs less space to unfold and adding this to the side sliding doors, parking is a breeze.  When the wheelchair passenger space is not in use, the versatile FlexiFold™ ramp folds flat to the vehicle floor, creating valuable space for shopping bags and other bulky items.

The UK’s most popular wheelchair car, the Peugeot Horizon is available to buy, rent or obtain through the Motability scheme.  With an ultra low Advance Payment from just £395, the Horizon comes with an affordable price tag too.  Fully equipped with high quality wheelchair restraints and wheelchair passenger seatbelts, your Horizon offers a safe and secure journey each and every time.  What’s more, Allied now offer a complimentary remote controlled electric winch for those in need of some extra assistance on wheelchair entry and exit.

Agnes was very impressed with the Horizon.  She comments: “I was really interested in the car, so I booked a home demonstration to try the Horizon out for size.”

During her demonstration, Agnes had the opportunity to drive the car and Donald got to experience travelling without the need to transfer to a car seat.  She recalls: “I was delighted.  The car has wrap-round visibility, which is great for me and Donald and the wheelchair ramp is excellent and so easy to use.  It also offered tremendous comfort for Donald.  I really enjoyed the drive and could see how much of a help it was going to offer in terms of our mobility outside the house.”

Mobility Car

Opting for the Horizon, Agnes is more than happy with her new mobility car.  She said: “I manage really well now.  We took a trip up to St Andrews in Fife last week.  It was just lovely to get out for a day by ourselves.

“Getting to Donald’s hospital appointments is easy now too.  In the past I had to plan ahead and organise every trip.  Now, I don’t even need to think.  We can just pop out when we like – it’s really given us a great sense of independence.”

Agnes has also found a great benefit from having the versatile FlexiFold™ wheelchair ramp. She explains: “When one of the carers visits, I can use my free time to pop out and get our groceries.  The wheelchair ramp folds flat when Donald is not travelling with me and it gives me lots of extra room for my shopping bags.  It’s so handy.”

Helpful Service

Allied Mobility offer seven-day customer service with a professional, highly trained customer service team at the ready to answer any product questions and to offer help and advice on what vehicle would best suit your needs.  Agnes comments: “Scott, the mobility consultant who demonstrated the vehicle to us, was very helpful and friendly.

“He took us through how to use the wheelchair ramp, wheelchair restraint and other mobility features and answered any questions we had.  We had a few other queries after he left so we called Allied and they were on the ball with answering them.

“I would definitely recommend Allied Mobility.  The Horizon has really made a big difference to us and we couldn’t be happier.”
