Stephen Davies and his partner, Catherine, are delighted with the flexibility they now have thanks to their new Peugeot Independence wheelchair accessible vehicle.
The couple, from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, have been fostering children for many years and have recently welcomed 5-year-old Danny into their family.
Danny has various disabilities and relies on his wheelchair to get around. Previously Stephen would lift Danny in and out of their old car as well as dismantling Danny’s wheelchair so he could transport it, meaning he had to rebuild it when they reached their destination. In his search for a more convenient solution Stephen gave Allied Mobility a call.
The Best Solution
Stephen comments: “Having to lift Danny in and out of our old car was obviously not an ideal situation so getting a more suitable car made sense. Due to the fact we foster we always have at least one child in the house and our grandchildren regularly come to visit so we thought finding a car which could cater for us all would be quite difficult but Allied Mobility made it easy.
“When we began our search I shopped around but it soon became clear Allied Mobility had the right car for us in the Peugeot Independence as well as offering the best deal. The Peugeot Independence allowed us to choose a seating layout to suit us, which was great. We arranged a home demonstration of the Independence and we were really impressed with what we saw.”
Based on the Peugeot Expert Tepee, the Peugeot Independence is ideal for large families looking for a wheelchair accessible vehicle. With a lowered floor, EasyFold™ wheelchair ramp and easy-to-use wheelchair securing system, the Independence offers optimum accessibility for the wheelchair passenger. Available in a range of models and seating layouts, the Independence combines flexibility, convenience and style to make the ideal mobility car for larger families or groups.
Stephen continues: “The wheelchair ramp is really easy to use, once it’s lowered to the ground I simply push Danny in, attach the securing system and seatbelt and he’s ready to travel, it’s so easy. The accessibility is definitely the best feature of the car. Taking Danny out is so much more straightforward than before. The fact he can travel in his wheelchair means I no longer need to lift him either, which is much better for both of us.
“The extra room you get with the Independence also helps to make things easier, we can all fit in the car together whereas before Catherine would walk into town and meet us due to the fact our car didn’t have enough room for us all, thanks to the Independence we don’t have that problem anymore!
“We were really happy with the service we received, our Mobility Consultant, Darren, explained everything to us and answered all our questions. The home demonstration was really good and it was great the car was brought to our home.
Stephen adds: “Owning a wheelchair accessible vehicle has made such a difference to our everyday lives, I don’t know why we didn’t get one sooner!”
