London’s Calling for the George Family

13. Mai 2019

Stuart George is busy making plans to visit his brother in London which is something he hasn’t been able to do recently.  After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2004, Stuart’s mobility decreased and he chose to give up driving a year ago.  However, life is very different now with the introduction of his new wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) from Allied Mobility, the Ford Custom Independence.

“I’m no longer limited by the discomfort and hassle that came with previous vehicles.”

Stress-Free Solutions

Stuart was finding it increasingly difficult to travel without his wheelchair and he and his wife, who is his carer, began the hunt for an accessible vehicle.

Stuart said: “Eventually, a WAV became the only way for me to travel relatively stress-free, without putting a strain on myself or my family.”

After finding out he qualified for the Motability Scheme, Stuart contacted Allied Mobility.  Having never owned an accessible car before, there was a lot to consider.  Stuart’s dedicated local mobility consultant from Allied Mobility, John, explained the process in detail.

Sharing the Knowledge

John and Stuart talked through the range of cars available and he opted for the spacious and modern Ford Independence™.

Stuart explained: “Allied Mobility showed themselves to be honest, professional and reliable.
John was particularly thorough and knowledgeable.”

The Ford Independence™ is one of Allied Mobility’s most popular choices thanks to its versatile layout and wealth of technological features.  What’s more, the RE model that Stuart decided on has the added benefit of a lowered floor, giving Stuart generous headroom and more comfort when travelling.  As the driver, Stuart’s wife gets to enjoy parking sensors, Bluetooth® connectivity and Ford’s App Link touchscreen.

Getting Mobile with Motability

As part of the Motability Scheme, Stuart doesn’t have to think about anything other than where he’s going next in his new vehicle as insurance, breakdown cover and servicing is covered.

For Stuart and his wife, the new vehicle has changed their life in ways they couldn’t imagine.

He enthused: “I’m no longer limited by the discomfort and hassle that came with previous vehicles.  I can now use the wheelchair that was made specifically for me all the time as it fits into my WAV with ease.”

With stresses and strains no longer an issue, Stuart has started planning for future trips.  First on the list is London to visit his brother and then? Who knows!
