Restricted mobility is a problem for thousand of people throughout the UK. For Linda Musk, a wheelchair user from Plymouth and her husband Dennis, this transition was aided by the helpful service from Allied Mobility.
Dennis explains: “When illness forced change in our life, Linda and I began looking for mobility solutions to help us get out and about. We searched for a wheelchair car that would allow Linda to transfer to a car seat or travel in her wheelchair or scooter when needed.”
“Many of the accessible vehicles we looked at were not suitable for us because they were too high for Linda to transfer to the passenger seat. After speaking to my Allied Mobility advisor we were delighted to hear that their Peugeot Horizon Origin had just what we were looking for, the perfect height and great accessible features.” Dennis continued.
Wheelchair entry and exit couldn’t be easier with the Horizon Origin. Featuring a lightweight one-piece folding wheelchair ramp and remote-operated electric winch, access is a breeze.
The Horizon Origin mobility car is the UK’s most popular wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) is available to buy, rent or via the Motability Scheme. The origin still has the lowestWAV Advance Payment of any WAV on the scheme which includes Peugeot’s original rear passenger seats.
Providing a comfortable and smooth ride quality and optimum security with high quality four-point wheelchair restraints and wheelchair passenger seatbelt, every journey is a pleasure.
Life’s Much Easier
Dennis comments: “Our new mobility car has made everything much easier for us. Linda is delighted the choice of travel options available too, she can choose to travel in her wheelchair or scooter or transfer to a passenger seat.”
Daily life has changed for Dennis and Linda thanks to their new Horizon. Dennis explains: “In our old standard car I had to fold down and store Linda’s wheelchair after she transferred to the car seat, which I always found difficult, tiring and backbreaking because of its weight. Now, in our new car, I just wheel her wheelchair up the ramp and secure it. It’s so much easier and there’s no more lifting involved.”
With ease of travel, Dennis and Linda have been enjoying getting out and about. “We are really enjoying popping out here and there when we when is suits us. When we go on our weekly shopping trips we always take the longer route home through the Moors to enjoy the scenery and often stop off along the way.
“I enjoy oil painting so I love getting inspiration from the beautiful countryside” adds Dennis.
Dennis is delighted with the service he received from Allied: “The service was great. My Mobility Advisor, Jon, was very helpful and explained all the features of the car. Even after we received our Horizon Origin, Jon gave us his card and said we could give him a call at any time if we had any questions or needed any help.”
“Without our WAV we wouldn’t be able to travel freely the way we can now. It’s made a real difference.”
