Bryan and Margaret Prodger, from Ipswich, received their wheelchair accessible vehicle from Allied Mobility in September this year and have been over the moon with it ever since.
Originally the couple had a Peugeot Horizon™ wheelchair car, also from Allied Mobility but found they needed space for more passengers. They got in touch to see about moving to a vehicle with more room and decided to try the spacious Volkswagen Vista™.
Allied’s local mobility advisor, Karen, brought the car to their home for a demonstration and the couple instantly decided it was the one for them. Since then Bryan, who drives the car, says they’ve found nothing they dislike about Vista™:
“We loved our Horizon but we needed space for more passengers, so the Vista was ideal. “Also I recently had a knee operation so having an automatic car means that I don’t have to worry about being able to use a clutch pedal. The gear change is really smooth and it’s lovely and comfortable to drive.”
Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle
A fully wheelchair accessible vehicle, Vista™ comes with a handy FlatFold™ wheelchair ramp, which folds flat to the vehicle floor when not in use.
Bryan finds the ramp really easy to use and comments: “Putting the ramp up and down is no problem and the low gradient means that I’ve no trouble pushing Margaret’s wheelchair into the car.
“It’s really simple to use and when my wife travels in the passenger seat instead of her wheelchair the added space in the boot is great.”
The couple recently took their Vista™ on holiday to France for a week with two of their friends and found the extra space invaluable.
Bryan comments: “We need to take a lot of equipment with us when we go away, as well as our regular luggage. We couldn’t have gone if we hadn’t had our Vista, especially as we had friends with us as well. We really enjoyed the break and the change of scenery and would love to go back.“
Despite being a more spacious vehicle, Volkswagen’s lastest engine technology meansVista™ returns excellent fuel consumption figures.
Bryan adds: “We were amazed with the fuel economy too, especially on such a long trip. It’s really impressive how economical the car was.”
The couple also use their Vista™ to get out and about in their home town:
“We only live ten minutes from the sea,” explains Bryan. “When the weather’s nice it’s great just to be able to pack up the car and head off. It makes the whole process of getting out and about easy.”
The Prodgers found mobility advisor, Karen, a great help when finding a new wheelchair car.
“She was really lovely and listened to our needs before recommending Vista,” recalls Bryan. “We’re really pleased overall with the service we’ve received from Allied Mobility.
“Everyone we dealt with treated us well and we wouldn’t look anywhere else for a wheelchair accessible vehicle.”
