Drive from wheelchair vehicles offer the ultimate in mobility independence for wheelchair users. That’s why we’re all excited about the launch of our latest new wheelchair accessible vehicle, the Peugeot Bipper Impulse.
Impulse is an innovative new development and differs from our existing, extensive range of mobility cars, offering wheelchair users added options – and not just for driving from your wheelchair.
Impulse can be driven from a powered wheelchair but also lets you travel as an up-front passenger in your wheelchair or it allows you to make an internal transfer from your wheelchair to the driver’s seat. Impulse can even take two wheelchairs in the up-front position, side by side.
Drive From Wheelchair Vehicle
A drive from wheelchair vehicle offers complete independence to travel on your own or with friends and family.
Using the handy remote control key fob, you can raise the automatic tailgate and lower the automatic ramp, even from the comfort of your own home. With the tailgate up, you can simply ascend the ramp and enter Impulse on your own, before raising the ramp and lowering the tailgate behind you, ready for travel.
A locking station, added to the Impulse floor, can secure a powered wheelchair enabling a power chair user to safely drive alone, with the aid of driving aids and adaptations as needed. Peugeot Impulse lets you go where you want, when you want.
Up Front Passenger Vehicles
Your options with Impulse do not end there though. Impulse mobility cars also make ideal up-front passenger vehicles. This means you can easily and quickly take your wheelchair right through to the front of the car, ready to travel alongside the driver. This is perfect for passengers who prefer to travel up front without the hassle of transferring out of their own wheelchair.
Up-front passenger vehicles can also be ideal for parents who need to keep a close watch on their child throughout their journey, so that care can be given whenever needed.
Internal Transfer
Impulse even comes with a driver and front passenger seat included – both of which can be easily removed and replaced. The full flat floor within the Impulse wheelchair car also facilitates internal transfer for people who prefer to enter the vehicle in their wheelchair and then transfer to the driver’s seat for their journey.
Internal transfer is safer and more comfortable than cumbersome external transfer, especially in bad weather – and goodness knows we see enough of that around the UK and Ireland!
Two Wheelchairs Up Front
Impulse is compact and easy to park but with both the driver and front passenger seat removed, Impulse still has room for two wheelchairs up front. This makes Impulse the ultimate wheelchair car for families or couples with two wheelchair users. It’s also ideal for a power chair driver who wishes to take another wheelchair user along on their travels.
Allied Mobility’s sales director, Peter Facenna comments: “The all-new Impulse is a really exciting development for us and we’re delighted with the initial response to the vehicle.
“What’s fantastic about Impulse is the fact that one vehicle can offer so many options. Anything which offers wheelchair users more freedom or choice is a plus in our book.”
