  • Post-delivery familiarisation check
  • New annual safety check.

Choosing the Right Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV)

It’s very important to choose the right wheelchair accessible vehicle to suit you and your family’s needs. That’s why Allied Mobility offers a wide range of great value wheelchair cars, people carriers and minibuses.

First, we’ll talk through your options on the ‘phone. Then your local Allied Mobility consultant will bring a vehicle or vehicles to your home, to help you decide on the most suitable model.

Delivering Your WAV

As soon as your new WAV is ready, we’ll deliver it to your door, anywhere in the UK.

Your delivery driver will also provide a full demonstration to make sure you and your carer(s) are confident in using the wheelchair access features of your wheelchair accessible vehicle. Each new WAV also includes a handy user guide to remind you how to operate the converted features of your vehicle.

Post-Delivery Familiarisation Check(1)

Now you’re ready to enjoy freedom of the road with your new Allied Mobility WAV.

Once you’ve had your car a few weeks we’ll get back in touch and arrange for your local Allied Mobility consultant (whom you’ve already met) to pop round for a post-sale familiarisation check. This gives you the chance to ask any questions that may have come up while we double-check that key elements of your vehicle are all working as they should.

Keeping in Touch

Allied Mobility’s aftercare programme doesn’t end there. You’ll receive related news and information about wheelchair accessible transport and other disability topics through our popular Access all Areas magazine and e-bulletins. We also arrange mobility days around the country which include the chance to see a leading visitor attraction – look out for invitations sent locally or check this website for information on upcoming events.

Annual Safety Inspection(2)

Buy any new WAV from Allied Mobility and you’ll benefit from an annual inspection visit, carried out by a trained technician. He or she will arrange a suitable time to visit you at home and carry out a safety check covering key accessibility and vehicle components. These include:

  • Wheelchair ramp
  • Seating
  • Front and rear wheelchair restraints
  • Wheelchair user seat belt
  • Assist winch (if applicable)
  • Tailgate
  • Lights & indicators
  • Hand controls (if applicable)

Minor issues requiring simple remedies like tightening or greasing will be dealt with on the spot by your technician. In the unlikely event that any more significant issue is identified, we will arrange for this to be addressed by your local car dealer or one of our nationwide network of WAV repair agents.

Mobile Servicing with Allied Autocare

Now you can also easily deal with two tasks in one go and get your vehicle’s regular maintenance service carried out at the same time as your specialist WAV check. Our sister organisation, Allied Autocare, offers full servicing where you are – simply click Mobile Servicing to find out how.

Seven-day Advice & Support

In addition to these scheduled visits, you can contact Allied Mobility, by ‘phone or email, whenever you need us.
