Europe’s leading WAV supplier – British company Allied Mobility – is continuing its support for the Motability charity.

Motability provides financial assistance for people with disabilities who would not otherwise be able to afford essential car adaptations, higher specification wheelchair accessible vehicles, driving lessons or a combination of all three.  These are typically some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged adults and children in the UK.

Mobility Assistance

The financial assistance provided is reliant on donations and this year alone Motability have set themselves a fundraising target of £2.5 million.

Allied Mobility is delighted to be supporting Motability’s charitable work by making a donation towards their fundraising goals and the company has more fundraising ideas in the pipeline.

Achieving Independence

Last year the Motability charity provided help to over 3,600 people with disabilities, helping them to achieve greater independence, including people like 10-year-old Stephen and his mum Alice from Lincolnshire.

Stephen, who has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism, relies on his wheelchair for getting around.  Without a wheelchair accessible car, Alice struggled to get access to the support she needed for her son.  In her search for a solution the determined mum contacted Motability.

Motability was able to offer Alice a grant towards the cost of a wheelchair car.  This means Stephen can get out much more often and Alice has peace of mind that she can get her son to essential hospital appointments and not have to struggle to lift his wheelchair in and out of her old car.

Alice comments: “We now have a car that’s big enough to hold my son’s wheelchair.  This has made a huge improvement to Stephen’s independence and I’ve seen his confidence grow as a result.”

Motability are seeing a rise in demand every year for grants and financial assistance, so their need for donations is always increasing.  As a long time advocate of the charity, Allied Mobility is delighted to offer continuing support for the great work they do.

Allied Mobility co-chairman, Gerry Facenna, comments: “As a company dedicated to creating affordable mobility solutions for our customers, we know at first hand what a huge difference owning a wheelchair accessible vehicle can make to people’s daily lives.

“It’s great that we’re in a position to give something back.  We support a number of disability charities and are delighted to be able to contribute to the invaluable work of the Motability charity.”
