PM Promotes Paralympics

Prime Minister David Cameron visited London’s Trafalgar Square recently to mark International Paralympic Day and help promote the 2012 Paralympic Games.

Mr Cameron was joined by London Mayor, Boris Johnson, with each partnering a wheelchair tennis player as they put their racket skills to the test.  Tickets for the Games are now on sale on and chairman of London 2012, Lord Coe, said: “I want all the tickets to sell out and I think we have a very good chance of doing that.”

London Welcomes Disabled Stars

With the Games less than a year away, Mr Johnson has invited disabled athletes from all over the world to come and take part, commenting: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming the world’s elite Paralympians to the capital next year and they will receive a fantastic reception.”

The event demonstrated all 20 of the Paralympic sports which will be a part of the special Games for disabled athletes next year in front of representatives from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), who were visiting London to see many of the venues.

IPC president, Sir Philip Craven, enthused: “The foundations for what could be the most successful Games ever in disabled sport are being laid here in London.”
