Trailblazers, the young campaigning group of charity, Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, is spearheading a new initiative to improve accessibility of airlines for people with disabilities.
A new steering group has been set up to look at a range of issues affecting disabled people when travelling by air such as customer service at airports and disabled vehicles transportbetween terminal buildings and aircraft.
Disability Focus
The group will be chaired by Monarch Airline’s Director of Customer Service, Charlene Kane and is made up of industry bodies, airlines, airports and aircraft designers who will look to put in place the recommendations found in Trailblazers’ Up In the Air report, together with those from the All-Party Parlimentary Group for young disabled people session in Parliament.
Trailblazers’ Campaigns Officer, Tanvi Vyas commented: “We’re excited about finally setting up such an important steering group. Air industry experts will be able to listen closely and action Trailblazers’ recommendations.
“We look forward to developing links with the organisations involved and hope to see a real difference to the experience of disabled travellers.”
