Mobility Day at Locomotion is Just the Ticket!

Allied Mobility rolled into the North East for our third Mobility Day of 2015, held at Locomotion – the National Rail Museum at Shildon.

Home to much of the UK’s national rail collection, the National Rail Museum is great location for a day out with regularly updated exhibitions, locomotive restorations and events held throughout the year.

We were delighted to host our North East Mobility Day at this fantastically accessible venue, where we enjoyed a day in the surprisingly warm September sun.

Visitors came from across North East England to visit the attraction and try our full range of wheelchair accessible vehicles. Free refreshments served in front of the towering locomotive exhibits proved to be a hit as visitors took some time out between visiting the cars and exhibitors, before getting back on track to discover the rest of the half mile-long museum site.

All in One Place

We brought with us one of each vehicle available from Allied Mobility, all of which are available to buy, lease or hire and through the Motability Scheme.

Among the vehicles on display was the eye-catching Ford Freedom™, the latest addition to the Allied Mobility wheelchair accessible car range. Based on the Ford Tourneo Connect, Freedom™ combines the stylish comfort you’d expect from Ford with innovative accessible features including a unique new EasyLift™ ramp that folds completely flat when not in use.

Not to be outdone the ever popular Peugeot Horizon™ showed again why it’s the UK’s most popular WAV, as visitors tried and tested the range to find their perfect car before making their decision on their next wheelchair accessible vehicle. Those who attended also had the chance to chat to our helpful mobility advisors.

Perfect Partners

We were also delighted to be joined for the day by some excellent local partners.  Chris from Motability was as always kept busy helping with queries about the Motability Cars Scheme.  Other exhibitors included local businesses Eden Mobility, Easibathe Ltd and Andrew Parnaby plus charities and disabled services such as the Wheelchair Dance Sport Association, British Inclusive Golf, Euan’s Guide and Disabled Motoring UK.

All in all a first class day was had by all who attended.  Big thanks go to the team at Locomotion who rail-lied round to welcome, help and support us throughout the day and of course our partners who all got on board with the spirit of the event.
