North West Mobility Day | Flying High at Runway Visitor Park

We were delighted to kick off our first AM Mobility Day at Runway Visitor Park, Manchester, home to the famous supersonic Concorde and legendary RAF Nimrod. It’s safe to say our entire fleet of wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs) was certainly in good company!

Then and Now

Concorde truly is an incredible sight to behold and was the focal point of the day. Although it was retired from active service in 2003, the venue’s friendly, expert guides were on hand to provide insightful information about the extraordinary jet, including stories of some very famous passengers like the late Queen Elizabeth.

The venue is also next to a wheelchair accessible viewing platform overlooking the runways at Manchester Airport. Plane spotters were treated to an array of planes taking off and landing throughout the day giving an insight into how much aviation has changed since the days of Concorde.

Why Do We Hold Our Own Mobility Days?

While we love attending a variety of arena events throughout the UK, it’s an extra special experience when we get to host our own and spend the day with familiar faces. By providing free attraction entry, free parking and free refreshments at our mobility days, it lets us keep in touch with you, whether you’ve been with us for a while or you’ve just joined the Allied Mobility family.

It also gives us the opportunity to showcase our entire fleet of new WAVs, a selection of used WAVs and provide information about wheelchair accessible vehicle hire.

Charities and Partners

We were also lucky enough to have some fantastic disability charities by our side on the day, including Caudwell’s Children who have helped thousands of disabled and autistic children with support services and equipment and Phab who has 140 clubs throughout England and Wales and unite their disabled and able-bodied members through a range of social activities like sports and arts.

Alongside these fantastic charities were mobility providers, including our sister company, Mobility Solutions, who provided demonstrations of a variety of wheelchairs, powerchairs and daily living aids.

Fantastic Feedback

We were happily joined by over 200 of you throughout the day. Two visitors – Tony and Judith, from Lancaster, were kind enough to offer their feedback:

“Thank you for a wonderful day at Manchester, a fantastic venue and staff who were so helpful. Steve the representative for our area Lancaster, was so helpful and knowledgeable about the vehicle we were interested in. Having the chance to look at the different options was great and we booked a free home demonstration to test drive the vehicle. To top it all we even had cakes and coffee under the wing of Concorde!”
