South West Mobility Day a Soaring Success

Allied Mobility arrived in the South West for our first Mobility Day of 2016, held at the world’s largest dedicated helicopter museum in Weston-super-Mare.

The museum has an extensive collection of over 80 helicopters including two aircraft of the Queen’s Royal Flight and the world speed record holder G-Lynx. It’s a fantastic location for a day out with an interactive zone, film theatre and events held throughout the year.

We were delighted to host our South West Mobility Day at this incredibly interesting venue and despite snow in the area a few days earlier we enjoyed what can only be described as extremely pleasant weather!

Visitors came from across South West England to enjoy the attraction and try our full range of wheelchair accessible vehicles. Free refreshments served in the Copter Café were enjoyed by all with the variety of cakes proving to be extremely popular as visitors enjoyed a break, before getting back to visiting the cars and exhibitors along with the incredible array of helicopters. 

Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles

Our display included each vehicle from the extensive Allied Mobility range, all of which are available through the Motability Scheme to buy, lease or hire.

Among the vehicles on display was the eye-catching Ford Freedom™ which is based on the Ford Tourneo Connect. Freedom™ combines the stylish comfort you’d expect from Ford with innovative accessible features including a unique new EasyLift™ ramp that folds completely flat when not in use.

In addition, the Volkswagen Vista™ was subject to a lot of interest from those in attendance thanks to its ample space for able-bodied and wheelchair passengers alike.

This popular MPV provides unsurpassed ease of access for wheelchair passengers with the EasyFold™ wheelchair ramp which is light and easy to use. Vista™ also includes a wealth of wheelchair accessible features including a non-slip, lowered floor, designed for optimum access, and high quality, adjustable wheelchair restraints.

Not to be outdone the ever popular Peugeot Horizon™ showed again why it’s the UK’s most popular WAV, as visitors tried and tested the range to find their perfect car before making their decision on their next wheelchair accessible vehicle. Those who attended also had the chance to chat to our knowledgeable mobility advisors.

Something for Everyone

We were also delighted to welcome a wide selection of partners on the day who enjoyed speaking to the large crowd in attendance. Chris from Motability was on hand to assist with any queries about the Motability Cars Scheme and was always kept busy. Other exhibitors included Oak Tree Mobility, Middletons, Elite Mobility, Direct Access UK Ltd, Elap Mobility, Dalesway Mobility and Autoadapt plus charities and disabled services such as Newlife and Accessible Transport 4 U.

The Helicopter Museum team couldn’t have been more helpful in making the day a huge success – they even organised a fly past for the watching crowd! In addition, our valued partners were extremely supportive as ever so all in all a fantastic day was had by everyone who attended.
