From the 23rd July to the 2nd August, Glasgow will welcome 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories as they compete for medals in iconic venues across the city.
This year’s Games are especially significant as six Para Sports are fully integrated to the 10-sport programme for the first time. As a result, medals won by both para and able-bodied athletes contribute equally to each country’s overall medal tally. It’s a powerful statement of inclusion and one we are incredibly proud to support.

The Games will unfold across an eight-mile corridor, staged within four iconic venues where Allied Mobility will also support with funding for dedicated signage to highlight accessible routes to spectator areas.
Alongside Allied Mobility’s Official Accessibility Partnership, our sister company Mobility Solutions, will also be providing a range of wheelchairs and electric scooters for public use at the Games.
The exciting announcement was made at the Games’ athletics venue, Scotstoun Stadium, with para athlete and Commonwealth silver medallist, Sean Frame, who is set to compete for Team Scotland in his racing wheelchair in the T54 1500m athletic event.
Speaking about the partnership, Sean said:
“Allied Mobility being involved in the Games and supporting disabled athletes is absolutely amazing and it will be invaluable to the athletes selected to compete. It will make it so much easier and less stressful not having to worry about transferring out of our day chairs as we have to do in normal cars. It will also make it a more relaxing and enjoyable experience when travelling to different venues during the games.
“These are my second games representing Scotland and I am very excited and very proud to get to compete in my home city of Glasgow”
What is a WAV?
A WAV is a car that allows wheelchair users to travel in the comfort of their wheelchair, thanks to key accessibility features such as:
- A lightweight wheelchair ramp in the rear
- Lowered floor for an easy ramp gradient and improved headroom
- Electric-assist winch to help gently pull the weight of wheelchair user into the vehicle
