What Makes the Kate Stanforth Academy of Arts Special?

Inclusive and accessible by design

Sessions are recorded, subtitled and can be adapted to meet individual needs, ensuring everyone can take part.

Understanding of chronic illness realities

Recognising the day-to-day challenges faced by dancers, extra time is built into sessions for breaks, medication, resting, refreshments and socialising.

A strong sense of community

Regular social sessions provide opportunities for members to connect, build friendships and reduce social isolation.

‘Movement, not improvement’ philosophy

Participants are encouraged to move in whatever way feels right for them, whether that’s dancing from a chair, bed, or simply enjoying the music, without pressure to improve or perform.

Industry-leading opportunities

Students can take exams, train with professional guest dancers and perform virtually, all from the comfort of their own homes.
