A brilliant day was had by all who attended Allied Mobility’s North West Mobility event at Blackpool Zoo recently. With the sun shining (which made up for the bleak weather during set up the day before!) people travelled from miles around to see our family of wheelchair accessible vehicles, meet our partners and, of course, see the fantastic animals on show in the Zoo.
Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles

Nestled among the elephants, the camels and the amazon experience, visitors could see our entire range of mobility cars in one place, a great advantage when you have lots of different things to consider. We had both the S and SE models of the UK’s most popular wheelchair accessible vehicle, the Peugeot Horizon™, which proved to be a big attraction. The S model comes with full original Peugeot seating and converts back to a standard car when not in use by a wheelchair user, and our SE creates lots of added room in the back with the option of one or two rear seats.
We also had our brand new Ford Freedom™ on show for visitors to see and try out. Based on the stylish Ford Tourneo Connect, Freedom™ is an exciting new addition to the Allied Mobility range of wheelchair accessible vehicles.
Visitors were treated to free refreshments as they arrived, and got the chance to mingle with our event partners. These included local mobility shops, an accessible hotel and leisure venues, Motability and DMUK. We were also joined by charity, British Inclusive Golf, who managed to raise over £100 and called the day a great success!
Animal
Magic
Guests were entitled to free access to the award winning Blackpool Zoo and enjoyed glorious sunshine throughout the afternoon. The Zoo is home to a huge array of animals ranging from Aardvarks to Zebras (and everything in between), although our favourites were the beautiful big cats in the lion and tiger exhibit and the cheeky monkeys in Amazonia!
A fantastic day was had by all at the North West mobility day, with brilliant feedback received from those that attended. Huge thanks goes to Blackpool Zoo who provided a fun-filled and accessible day out that we would highly recommend, to our partners for their support and of course to everyone who came along to enjoy the day with us.
Watch this space for our next mobility day, and don’t miss out on the chance of a great day out.
