For many people, owning a wheelchair accessible vehicle means life becomes more convenient and comfortable, which is why Robin Haine and his wife, Patricia, from Gloucestershire love their Peugeot Horizon™.
The Haines previously owned an adapted car with a hoist but Robin, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, found the process of transferring in and out time-consuming and inconvenient. When it came to updating their vehicle they got in touch with Allied Mobility.
Robin explained what he was looking for in a new car and the popular Horizon™ mobility car seemd to fit the bill. Mobility advisor, Darren, quickly followed this up by bringing the car to their home for a demonstration. Once he saw it, Robin was impressed by the space and headroom in Horizon™ and decided it was the car for him.
Whilst Robin was waiting for his vehicle to be delivered, he phoned Allied and requested another home demonstration. Robin explains: “We had another couple of questions that we hadn’t thought of at our first home demonstration, so we phoned Allied and asked for another. This was no problem at all and Darren was happy to come back to our house and go through its features; he was really patient and knowledgeable.
“Our Horizon is a real life-line for us. We couldn’t manage without it now, it’s so much quicker and easier to get in and out of.”
The Haines have now had their Horizon™ for a few months and are still extremely happy with their car. Robin adds: “The fuel economy is brilliant, we feel like we never have to put diesel in. It’s great how much space and storage there is in the back.”
Patricia regularly drives and really enjoys it, she finds using the ramp a breeze. Patricia comments: “It’s really simple and it’s nice and light. We never have any issues using it when we’re out and about.”
The couple use their Horizon™ regularly for various appointments and find that having an easily accessible car takes the stress out of hospital and doctors visits. Living in the Cotswolds, Robin and Patricia love making the most of their beautiful surroundings and exploring the great outdoors.
Their Horizon™ allows them to really enjoy their trips. Patricia adds: “It’s such an easy car to drive, and handles like a dream so trips away are a pleasure, and something we really look forward to.”
One of their favourite places to visit is the Cotswolds Airport, a small airport in Cirencester where Robin enjoys watching the wide array of planes that land there. Robin enthuses: “Planes are one of my hobbies and Cotswolds Airport is so interesting because of the varied collection of planes that use it. I’ve seen everything from light aircraft to jumbo jets. There’s a café too so we can relax and watch what’s going on. Our Horizon means that trips like this are now straight forward and pleasurable.”
The Haines can’t fault the service they received from Allied. They decided they wanted the back seats removed after they received their Horizon™ and were pleased that this could be done simply. Robin elaborates: “We decided we didn’t need the back seats, so we called Allied and asked for them to be removed and they were happy to oblige. Everyone we spoke to was so patient and understanding and the service we’ve received has been first class.”
