DMUK Honours Worthy Winners

The 3rd annual Disabled Motoring UK Awards, sponsored by Allied Mobility, saw an array of deserving businesses, organisations and individuals celebrated for their work in making life better for people with disabilities.

DMUK’s connection with motoring made the Heritage Motor Centre in Warwickshire the perfect venue for the prestigious event, with over 120 guests in attendance.

Campaigning

Disabled Motoring UK is dedicated to campaigning for the rights of disabled drivers, passengers and Blue Badge holders. By lobbying the government and businesses the charity aims to improve parking and access to the goods and services that people with disabilities need.

The DMUK awards celebrate and recognise positive contributions made to the daily lives of individuals with disabilities or those who have inspired others to live their lives to the full, regardless of their circumstances.

Worthy Winners

This year’s winners where chosen across ten different categories, ranging from the Mobility Sport Awards to Accessible Days Out. Disabled Motoring UK Director of Policy and Campaigns, Helen Dolphin, enthused: “We’re always astounded at the dedication and achievements of our members to push the boundaries of what is perceived to be possible by disabled people.”

Former TV presenter Helen, who was also DMUK’s compare for the evening, continued: “We’re delighted to be able to formally recognise the advances being made by companies to improve the lives of disabled people in the UK.

“We also wanted to recognise the valuable work that many organisations do towards improving accessibility and service for disabled individuals.  We hope that these awards will continue to help inspire further progress on the road to equality.”

In additon to the awards ceremony guests heard inspirational speeches from two young disabled racing drivers, Allied Mobility’s own Aaron Morgan and Nicolas Hamilton, brother of Formula 1 ace Lewis.
