An Easier Way Around Edinburgh Zoo is on the Horizon

During 2014, Allied Mobility formed a partnership with Edinburgh Zoo to provide one of Scotland’s most popular attractions with a vehicle so that wheelchair users could enjoy the experience as easily as possible.

We recently provided some members of the zoo’s staff with a refresher training course on how to operate the Peugeot Horizon™.

With Allied Mobility consultant Ian McCarry present, six members of the Edinburgh Zoo staff were given a detailed walk through on how to use the UK’s most popular wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV). While many of the staff already had a good knowledge of how to use the vehicle, they felt it was great to have a refresher.

Edinburgh Zoo manages to attract around 600,000 visitors per year and is among the busiest tourist attractions in Scotland so we are delighted to be able to assist wheelchair users in seeing the animals and getting around as easily as possible.

Access for All

When asked about the difference the vehicle has made, one member of staff said: “The amount of positive feedback we’ve had from people has been incredible. With the way in which the zoo is laid out, wheelchair users can find it challenging to get around and the access to this vehicle has been invaluable.”
