Ian and Julie Are Enjoying All the Plus Points with Horizon™ Plus

After months of shielding, Ian and Julie Gallier from Weston Super Mare are finally looking forward to a well-deserved trip away.  It’s not just thanks to their local lockdown restrictions easing but also the delivery of their spacious new wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) from Allied Mobility, Peugeot Rifter Horizon™ Plus.

Taking Action to Adapt

Horizon™ Plus is actually Ian and Julie’s second WAV from Allied Mobility, after being so happy with their first.  Julie lives with MS and before an accessible car became an option, the couple relied on using a hoist.  It lifted Julie’s mobility scooter into the back of their standard vehicle.  Eventually though, as Julie’s needs changed, she required the use of a wheelchair full time and the search for a wheelchair accessible vehicle began.

During the search for their first WAV, the Gallier’s decided that the Horizon™ best suited their needs.

A Winning WAV

We were delighted to be able to help the couple once more when the time came to replace their first WAV. After five years of motoring in their previous Horizon™, the couple’s needs developed once more.  They now needed a larger wheelchair accessible vehicle to accommodate Julie’s new wheelchair and to store medical aids while travelling.  After asking Allied Mobility’s advice, they were thrilled to hear a brand-new Horizon™ was available, complete with an updated base model and the option of a longer wheelbase.

Ian explains: “While we loved our old Horizon™, we needed more space for Julie’s new chair as it no longer fitted.  Our new WAV accommodates us perfectly.”

During their free home demonstration of Horizon™ Plus with their local mobility advisor, Paul, Julie and Ian were instantly impressed.  Thanks to the longer wheelbase and generous interior, Julie had plenty of room to comfortably travel in her wheelchair.  The extra space meant she could also store any extra luggage or equipment she needed.  What’s more, the new Allure Premium spec, now standard on Horizon™ and Horizon™ Plus gave them extra features they didn’t get before.  Additions like a swish colour reversing camera and convenient driver’s safety pack.

Hitting the Road

Since taking delivery, Ian and Julie are looking forward to the freedom they’ll be able to enjoy after so many months inside.  They’re particularly looking forward to putting the Horizon™ Plus through its paces on a trip to an accessible caravan a few hours away.  But whether it’s a weekend getaway or just a trip to the supermarket, their new WAV has opened up the world to them again.

Ian concludes: “Trips out are now possible, having this WAV has given us the ability to do so.”
