Kidz in the Middle

Kidz in the Middle 2011, held in the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, showcased a wide variety of leading mobility aids, including the UK’s most popular wheelchair accessible vehicles, the Peugeot Partner Horizon.

Funding Zone

Kidz in the Middle, which is in its third year, offers families with disabled children a unique day out.  On show within the Ricoh Arena, home to Coventry City Football Club, was a wide range of products and services which are available to assist wheelchair users, those with disabilities and their families.

New for 2011 was a unique Funding Zone, offering information on grants, financial support, the Motability Cars Scheme and charities which are available to families and those who care for disabled people.  This new zone proved a huge hit with visitors to the show.

Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles

Among the wheelchair accessible vehicles on display was the UK’s most popular disability car, the Peugeot Horizon.  Converted from the stylish Peugeot Partner by Allied Mobility.

The Horizon comes packed with valuable accessibility features including the unique FlatFold™ wheelchair ramp, a specially lowered floor and high quality wheelchair restraint system for safe and easy travel.  An easy use electric winch system can be added to the Horizon at no added cost for Motability Scheme customers and the good news for customers is that the Horizon now also has the option of free parking sensors, offering added value with no added cost.

Wheelie Good Fun

There was also plenty of fun for the visitors to Kidz in the Middle.  Allied Mobility had Corky the Clown on their stand to make fantastic balloon shapes including swords and flowers for visitors.  Wheelchair charity, Go Kidz Go also came along on the day to provide information on the range of wheelchair skills courses which they offer and also the workshops which they carry out to raise awareness of the challenges which face wheelchair users, especially children.  Go Kids Go had a host of visitors joining in their range of games for wheelchair users, and non wheelchair users, including Coventry City players who popped in.

Local Allied Mobility consultant, Darren McDonald, commented “The Kidz events are unique in that they show families and carers of disabled children just what is out there to help them lead more active lives.  The atmosphere at the show is also fun-filled which makes it a great day for all who come along.
