Nikki’s Picturing Freedom with her Win!

When the nights start to draw in and the sunshine seems like a distant dream, what better way to relive the memories than reminiscing with some sunny summer snaps?!  At Allied Mobility HQ, we asked our Facebook followers to send us their best snaps with their wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV).  After a great response and some picturesque photos to enjoy, the lucky winner of a £500 Allied Mobility Freedom voucher was announced!

Picture Perfect

Nikki Hunter-Pike and her family were crowned the winners of the fantastic prize for their photographic efforts of their balmy days out and about their local area, Kent.  Nikki and her husband, Dan head up a bustling blended family of seven, so they certainly have their hands full!  Their winning entry was a collage of the whole family enjoying the glorious seasonal weather.  From woodland wanders at the local country park to Nikki’s son, Chase meeting a playful pup at the Kent Police open day.  When we caught up with Nikki, she told us that she entered the competition not expecting anything to come of it.

Nikki said: “My friend sent me the competition and I thought I may as well enter.  I wasn’t expecting to actually win, so when I found out that ours was the winning photo, I was so surprised and of course happy!”

Chasing Adventure with a WAV

The Hunter-Pike family have had a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) for five years now.   Chase lives with Cerebral Palsy and dystonia and uses a wheelchair full time so having an accessible vehicle is a great help for this busy family.  The Peugeot Expert Independence™ has plenty of space for Chase to travel comfortably in his wheelchair and room for the family to travel together in one vehicle.  Since purchasing their WAV, Nikki can’t imagine life without it.

Nikki explained: “Chase can be transported in his wheelchair with ease, so no heavy lifting for me! Without it, he’d lose so much independence if he was restricted to a fold up wheelchair in the boot of a standard car.  For him and I both, it’s been life changing.”

The Big Picture

One month on from their win, Nikki and the family are still thrilled and deciding what to use their prize for.  They’re considering putting their winnings towards upgrading their accessible vehicle to a newer model, or perhaps splurging on an adventurous family day out to add to their photo album.  For this family, the possibilities are endless!

Nikki laughs: “We can’t wait to see where our WAV will take us next!  Maybe to Allied Mobility for a newer one!”
