For our third mobility day of the year, we headed to Sage Gateshead where we were treated to the fabulous views overlooking the River Tyne.
We had a brilliant location in the heart of Performance Square, which has been home to some fantastic outdoor concerts and theatre shows. We were excited that our wheelchair accessible vehicles and rental cars were now the star attractions for the day!
The smooth concrete and spacious layout meant our guests could manoeuvre around the mobility cars with ease. Our mobility consultants were also on hand to provide demonstrations of the accessibility features of each vehicle, including our lightweight wheelchair ramps and electric winches.
Don’t Rain on our Parade
As the day went on the grey clouds crowded in and it was time to head for cover before the rain hit! Handily, we had two brilliant craft stalls and hospitality in our accessible marquees. Our guests were given the chance to build their own environmentally friendly kites and design lanterns under the excellent tuition of artists Jenny Dockett and Pui Lee.
“It’s a great day out and everyone is so helpful. It’s also a great chance to chat to others with disabilities.”
We were also entertained by singer and pianist, Annie Griffiths, who performed a live set.
As ever we’re grateful to receive feedback from those who attend our events. One visitor said: “It was good to see how mobility products are developing, progressing and covering more specific challenges – it’s very heartening. Well done everyone.”
Another guest enthused: “It’s a great day out and everyone is so helpful. It’s also a nice chance to chat to others with disabilities. Thanks everyone!”
We’d like to say a massive thank you to everybody who attended the North East Mobility Day. We’re taking a short break to recharge our batteries before we head to the North West in October for our final show! You’ll find full details on our website in the coming months.
