According to RevoLOOtion there’s over 250,000 disabled people in the UK who require access to a Changing Places toilet. These are larger, specially adapted and fully accessible toilets that are suitable for wheelchair users and those requiring additional space to change.
To ensure our Mobility Days can be enjoyed by all those attending, we’ve teamed up with RevoLOOtion to provide a safe, hygienic and comfortable mobile toilet and changing facility that can be used throughout the day at our own events, including our upcoming South Mobility Day at Brookland’s Museum and Scotland Mobility Day at Riverside Museum.
A LOOk Inside
Each RevoLOOtion unit is fitted with a wheelchair accessible lift to allow easy access into the large static pod. Similarly to a Changing Places toilet, once inside you’ll find a toilet with grab rails, a motorised hoist and height adjustable changing table, hot water, heating and plenty of space for users and their carers to move around. A friendly support attendant is on hand to help who also keeps the unit clean and hygienic throughout the day.
How Did the RevoLOOtion Begin?
Established in 2018, charity Vehicles for Change recognised the need for fully accessible toilets and changing places to be made available at indoor and outdoor events throughout the UK. To achieve this a mobile unit that could be driven to various venues was engineered and the RevoLOOtion era began.
Vehicles for Change CEO, Phil Tansley, explains: “Over a quarter of a million people in the UK are unable to use a standard accessible toilet. If people are unable go to the toilet during a day out, they simply stop going out; this leads to leads to exclusion, isolation, loneliness and poor mental wellbeing.”
Breaking Down Barriers
In the last year, RevoLOOtion has made a significant difference to the lives of over 5,000 disabled people by providing stress free toilet and changing place facilities at 1,000 events including sports fixtures, music festivals and concerts that those with disabilities may have had to otherwise miss out on due to a lack of suitable amenities.
South Mobility Day
