Rosemary’s First WAV’s A Winner!

When Rosemary Hyde, from Chepstow, became a full-time wheelchair user, she began the search for a vehicle that could make journeys simple and comfortable.  Since the delivery of her new wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV), Peugeot Rifter Horizon™ from Allied Mobility, Rosemary now has the freedom to travel hassle-free, making a huge difference to her life.

Rosemary and HusbandFrom Standard to Spacious

Rosemary and her husband have three adult children and several grandchildren dotted around the UK and the couple enjoy their frequent trips far and wide to visit them.  Following an illness however, Rosemary was worried it would spell the end of their travels and the end of her freedom.

Rosemary says: “Prior to getting the WAV, my mood was very low.  I wasn’t sure how to even go about getting a wheelchair accessible vehicle.”

Welcome to the World of WAVs

The couple learned about Allied Mobility’s wheelchair accessible cars during a visit to their local Ford garage that had supplied their previous standard vehicles.  They were told that a specialised vehicle adapted for wheelchair travel could be purchased from Allied Mobility.  From there, Rosemary got in touch with her local advisor, John, for more information and to arrange a free home demonstration of  Horizon™.  During the demonstration, Rosemary and her husband were able to try out all the accessible features and test drive the vehicle.

Rosemary recalls: “We found the Horizon™ ticked all the boxes for us. It suited all my needs and it was just so easy to get my wheelchair into the car.”

Accessibility On the Horizon

From its lightweight, low gradient EasyGlide™ ramp to its easy-to-use free electric winch and high-quality wheelchair restraints, Horizon™ ensures Rosemary can enter her car with ease and that she is safe when travelling in her in her wheelchair.  For her husband, the driver in the family, convenient and high-spec features like its 8” colour touchscreen, colour reversing camera and driver safety pack, which all come as standard in Horizon™, make it an enjoyable drive too.  Rosemary’s positivity isn’t just reserved for the car itself, however.  She was delighted with the customer service support she received from Allied Mobility which made the process of getting her first mobility vehicle so smooth.

Rosemary tells us: “The whole process with Allied Mobility has been a positive experience.  It was such a straightforward process from ordering to delivery, and even afterwards with great ongoing customer service regarding roadside mobile servicing.”

Hitting the RoadRosemary and Husband 2

Since taking delivery of their new Horizon™, Rosemary and her husband have been able to hit the road once again, with their visits to family and friends resumed.  After a long-awaited trip to visit their daughter in Birmingham, Rosemary feels the switch to a WAV has done much more than just make travelling that bit easier.

Rosemary enthuses: “Since having the WAV I’ve been able to get out to wheelchair-friendly places and I’m enjoying life again!.”
