Sandra Enjoys her new Independence

Sandra Vaughan was having difficulty finding a vehicle that was right for her and her large family, especially as her youngest child is a wheelchair user.

Transport Needs

Ms Vaughan, from Rochdale in Lancashire, was in search of a MPV that would accommodate herself, her sons; Gary, 19, Leom, 17, Scott, 16 and Dayle, 13 and her daughter Kirsty aged 16.  With such a big family Sandra needed a vehicle that was not onlywheelchair accessible but had lots of passenger and luggage space.

A Cut Above the Rest

Sandra contacted Allied Mobility who helped find a vehicle to suit her specific needs and suggested the accessible Independence Premier.

“The Independence is an ideal sized family car; it’s nice and spacious and can fit all the family.  But the Advance Payment was much lower than we’d come across for other wheelchair accessible cars of this size”, said Sandra.

Helping Hand

Since being accredited to the Motability Scheme the Independence WAV has proved hugely popular with larger families throughout the UK.

Sandra explains how the Premier’s accessibility has made a real difference to her and Dayle, who uses a wheelchair: “Dayle needs to go on regular visits to the hospital and to splint clinics and I was finding it really difficult to lift him in and out of our old car now he is getting older.”

“The Independence is absolutely brilliant for access, with the lowering suspension and folding access ramp”, she continued.

Out and About

Since the delivery of their new Independence, Sandra and her family have enjoyed going out more as a family.  “We find it easy getting around now, we’ve been to Blackpool and to visit relatives in the car and Dayle can get in and out in five minutes flat!”

“We would recommend the Independence and Allied to anyone.”
