With longer nights and drier days, summer has finally come around, which means many of us are looking for things to do to enjoy the good (or shall we say better) weather, while it’s here!
As the UK’s leading wheelchair accessible vehicle supplier, we have an extensive range of WAVs for hire and are expertly placed to help find the perfect mobility vehicle to suit your summer activities. Whether for a few day trips or a longer summer adventure, you can rent a wheelchair accessible vehicle from Allied Mobility for as little or as long as you like*.
What to Do
To help keep you entertained this summer, we’ve popped some accessible things to do below!
Poole’s Cavern & Country Park, Buxton
Want to enjoy the sun? Why not head to Poole’s Cavern and Country Park where you can enjoy the great outdoors before cooling off in the main cavern chamber, which is a cool 7 degrees! At 100 metres / 300ft long and with no steps, wheelchair users can explore the main cavern chamber free of charge before enjoying a nice bite at the accessible cafe and a browse of the step-free, level access gift shop and visitor centre.
Blenheim Palace, Oxforshire
With lots to see and do from exploring the Palace grounds to delving into the stories below the stairs to learn about the life of a Palace servant, there’s a great a blend of indoor and outdoor accessible activities available. As well as disabled parking, a blue badge holder’s companion can go free. There are also touch tours available and on the last Tuesday of every month the Palace offers free BSL tours.
If you’re interested in art then Frameless, an immersive art experience in London is a great option. Winner of this year’s Blue Badge Access Award for Most Accessible Day Out, the whole building is wheelchair accessible and features works from iconic artists such as Vincent Van Gogh and Monet. With ‘Chilled Sessions’ for neurodivergent visitors, BSL signed tours and tailored audio-described tours, Frameless is an incredibly accessible and inclusive venue.
