The Mason family from Harrogate in North Yorkshire are enjoying exploring the countryside thanks to their new Peugeot Horizon wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Terry and Janet Mason are delighted with the freedom and flexibility that their new Peugeot Horizon has given them and their son Thomas.
Thomas Mason was born with mobility problems and his parents have always struggled to find a wheelchair accessible vehicle which is easy to use for Thomas and his wheelchair.
Having seen an Allied Mobility advert, Mr Mason went online to view Allied’s range of wheelchair accessible vehicles. Terry was impressed with the Peugeot Horizon and the excellent accessibility features. After contacting Allied, a mobility advisor called at the family home to give a demonstration of the vehicle.
Terry commented: “Thomas attends a day centre every week so having a wheelchair accessible vehicle is vital for us. My wife and I were very happy with the presentation of the Horizon, the wheelchair ramp and winch were so easy to use and driving the car is so smooth and comfortable.”
“Moving Thomas in and out of the car really is effortless. It is especially good for my wife as before it was a strain for her to take Thomas out if I wasn’t with her but now it’s just a case of folding the ramp down, pushing Thomas in and attaching the restraints, the car has made such a difference to our daily lives.”
Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Features
Based on the Peugeot Partner Tepee the Horizon offers excellent accessibility without compromising on style. Standard features of the Horizon include the exclusive FlatFold wheelchair ramp, lowered floor and Motability accredited wheelchair restraints. The car also has the option of an electric winch making wheelchair access even easier. The winch comes at no extra cost through the Motability scheme.
Recent updates to the Horizon mean it is now available with extra seating layouts, making it even more versatile and practical offering the perfect family vehicle for both able-bodied and wheelchair users.
“To have a car which is designed specifically for a wheelchair user has made our lives so much easier. One of the best things about having a wheelchair accessible vehicle is that Thomas now has a better quality of life and we can take him out to places like the seaside, shops and countryside.
“In our previous car getting Thomas in and out of the vehicle was a strain so we didn’t take him out as much as we wanted. Now taking him out is easy, we can transport him without the difficulties we had before. If I could give the car a higher score than 10 out of 10 I would!”
Spot on Service
On the service the Mason’s received from Allied Mobility, Terry commented “When it comes to service we cannot fault Allied Mobility. Our mobility advisor, Peter, was very helpful, the service we received was spot on. Peter was very knowledgeable when it came to the vehicle and understood how important the accessibility of the car was for us.
“The demonstration answered all of our questions and once we had ordered the vehicle everything was straightforward.”
