Who is Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby?
Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby (GBWR) is the sporting organisation that oversees wheelchair rugby across England, Scotland and Wales. From grassroot players to Paralympic stars, GBWR believe that everybody has a force within them and wheelchair rugby exists to help people find it, explore it and show it.
Proud Partners
We’re very excited to be involved in a partnership with GBWR as we jointly look to grow the vibrant and inclusive sport both on and off the court.
What is Wheelchair Rugby?
Wheelchair rugby is an inclusive sport where men and women both compete on the same team. It is one of the only full-contact disability sports, resulting in a lot of hard hits making the game both thrilling to play and watch!
The game is usually played on a basketball court in a sports hall with the overall objective being to get the ball (which is not oval but round like a volleyball) over the line to score a try.
A game is thirty-two minutes long and is played in eight-minute quarters where each team has twelve seconds to get the ball over the halfway line and a total of forty seconds to score a try. If the team in possession of the ball do not score within forty seconds, then the ball is turned over to the opposition.
Watch. Play. Volunteer.
Whether to play, volunteer or simply spectate, wheelchair rugby is an action-packed sport with something for everyone!

With its speed, hard hits and tactical game play, wheelchair rugby is as exciting to watch as it is to play. All GBWR games are free to spectate both in person and online.
