Allied Mobility had its third event of the year last week at the Historic Dockyards in Chatham, Kent. The South East Mobility Day had an impressive 220 people attend, with several visitors stating that they’d previously worked there when it was a working dockyard!
As one of Britain’s most important Royal Dockyards, Chatham was associated with many great historical figures of their time – seamen like Sir Francis Drake and Lord Nelson as well as literary legends such as Samuel Pepys and Charles Dickens. The dockyard’s role in supporting the fleet linked it to many of the most significant events in history – from the Spanish Armada to the Cold War. Events that shaped the world we live in today.
The South East Mobility Day had an impressive 220 people attend, with several visitors stating that they’d previously worked there when it was a working dockyard!
The location for the event was chosen due to its large open spaces and mainly flat ground. The site contains over 100 historical buildings and structures and three historic warships! It’s the most complete dockyard for the age of sail in the world, allowing visitors to see maritime heritage in all its glory.
This impressive venue made for an exceptional backdrop for our vehicle showcase. It’s not often our vehicles are over-shone by the venue… but historic war ships and beautifully preserved buildings might just make the cut!
Allied Mobility was joined by partners Elap and Brig-Ayd, in showcasing a fleet of vehicles. On display as our full range of wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs), from the best-seller, Peugeot Partner Horizon™ to the Flexilite™ minibus. We also had our accessible hire team on hand to explain and discuss Allied Mobility’s WAV and adapted vehicles rentals scheme.
Guests enjoyed getting up close and personal with the vehicles and chatting to our friendly mobility advisors and sales team, who were on hand to provide assistance on the day. The rentals team were particularly busy, with many people considering their future summer holidays and of hiring a wheelchair accessible car.
Mobility Solutions were also present with their pop-up shop and display unit inside the No.1 Smithery – a beautifully preserved building. A number of trusted brands’ products were available to try and buy on the day, with guests receiving an extra discount in their goodie bags!
Great Day Out
Our guests commented on the venue, with many being reminded of their youth. All types of people came along on the day including families, couples, care groups and individuals – with some people even popping along whilst on their summer holidays!
It was great to hear positive feedback regarding our staff and our vehicle display, which some guests had travelled some distance to see.
Our next event is our Scotland Mobility Day in September. More information will be available nearer the time.
