A Pitstop with Aaron Morgan

We hit the brakes with Team BRIT driver and Allied Mobility’s very own sponsored petrolhead, Aaron Morgan, for a natter and to find out how his debut season with Team BRIT this year went.

Hi Aaron!  Congratulations on completing your first season with Team BRIT!  How do you feel it’s gone?  My debut season as a Team BRIT driver couldn’t have gone any better.  Driving the Aston Martin really is amazing and the speed never fails to put a smile on my face!  The other drivers and mechanics have really been great at welcoming me too, we’ve created a wicked atmosphere in the garage.  We achieved a class podium in our first race weekend and then we went on to achieve another class podium at Silverstone.

Incredible work!  It goes without saying it’s been a tricky year for racing.  How did you keep yourself fit while the season was postponed?  This year has been especially difficult for everybody.  Keeping fit for races has also proved difficult for me with gyms being shut.  However, I’ve been going out in my local area for pushes in my wheelchair which has also given me a chance to explore nearby places I’d never been to before.  At the same time though, it has caused painful blisters on my hands!  I was able to mentally prepare for races better than ever while I was stuck indoors though because I had plenty of time to review onboard footage to identify and improve my mistakes.

What were your highs and lows of the season?  A definite low was my teammate, Bobby, getting hit during the qualifying race at Brands Hatch.  After all the excitement of the season beginning it was then touch and go whether we would be able to race at all.  A high point for me was achieving our class podium in the second race at Silverstone.  We were a little bit further down the grid than we expected so we knew the races would be challenging.  I was really happy with how I drove in both races and the crew did two brilliant pitstops which ended up with our podium in the second race.

What will you be up to over the Christmas season?  I’ll be spending Christmas at home with my family.  I really enjoy being able to spend time with them all and having a nice break.  It also means I can eat a lot before my pre-season physical training starts in January!

Looking ahead to 2021, what are your plans for next season?  My goal is to race the Aston Martin again with Team BRIT.  This year has given me an amazing taste of what a great car it is to drive and I’d really like to get it further up the podium, I think class victories could be on the cards!  As a team, we’ve been able to achieve great success and I am confident that we can carry it on in 2021.
