Becoming a Radio Presenter by Ross Lannon

As you can see from the title of this post, I have some exciting news to share!  If you’ve been a regular reader of my blogs for Allied Mobility, you’ll know that I’m passionate about disability representation within the media.  So with that being said, I am so excited to share the news that I am officially joining the team at CHAOS Radio as one of their new co-presenters.  AHHHH THIS IS SO EXCITING!

Set on Accessibility

As a massive fan of all things media, music and general chatting, this really is a dream job for me.  For those who don’t know, CHAOS Radio is an online platform which broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week across the whole of the UK.  As well as playing some of the latest hits, the team at CHAOS also have a television studio on set and record a range of interviews with guests from the local community and more.  With a height adjustable desk and wheelchair-friendly set, CHAOS has certainly provided one of the most inclusive and accessible studios around.

News and Views

The opportunity to volunteer couldn’t half come at a more perfect time for me and I’m really excited to learn some new skills and hopefully progress within this industry.  Here’s hoping I can provide a fresh perspective on a range of different subjects, such as disability access for wheelchair users across various venues in the UK.  I’m no Piers Morgan, but I once went to war with my local cinema over their poor access, so we’ll see what happens!  Not only do I hope to share my own views and opinions, I want to be able to give a voice to others by continuing to raise awareness for disabilities within the mainstream media.  I’ve always joked about having “a face for radio” – and now look where we are!  Just to make life that little bit more ‘chaotic’ (no pun intended), I’ve also recently started an online course in Foundation Journalism – which fits in perfectly with my new presenting role and continued blog work.  To be honest I’m just excited to leave the house more than anything else as it’s been a long ol’ year of shielding!
