Disability Pride Month has been officially recognised in the UK since 2015 with the aim of celebrating and honouring disabled people’s achievements, challenging stigmas, promoting inclusion and raising awareness for disability causes.
All over the country, people and organisations are gearing up for a series of vibrant Disability Pride events and celebrations. With this year’s theme being celebrating and fostering inclusion, we’ve curated a handy list of events taking place across the country to spark some inspiration on how to celebrate this Disability Pride Month!
Chester’s Disability Pride Parade
Following the success of 2024’s parade which saw over 500 people in attendance, Chester’s Disability Pride Parade, which kicks off the annual Kaleidoscope Festival, will return this year for another day of joyful celebration!
The one-day event will see people gather outside Chester Town Hall before setting off through the town centre led by Back Chat Brass, who will continue to provide music throughout the day alongside other musicians. For those looking for an activity, there will also be inclusive dance and creative workshops.
Kaleidoscope Festival is a week-long programme of performances, events, workshops and activities developed for and by the learning-disabled community. Find out more about the festival here.

The 2nd Lancashire Disability Pride
Join Disability Equality North West and Caritas Care UK, as they host the 2nd Lancashire Disability Pride.
Last year’s event saw music, dancing, games and fun stalls from a wide range of service providers and charities. The mayor of Preston and Disney car, Lightening McQueen, also made an appearance and this year’s event is set to be another fun-filled day!
When: 10th July at 11:00am

Felixstowe’s First Disability Pride
Celebrating their first Disability Pride, Felixstowe is prepping for a fun and vibrant procession along the promenade, starting at SeaYou Café, with plenty entertainment along the way. Upon arrival at Felixstowe Leisure Centre, there will be outdoor entertainment and a trade show showcasing disability equipment and services.
When: 11th July at 11:30am
Where: Felixstowe seafront. The procession will start at SeaYou Café and end at Felixstowe Leisure Centre.

Try an Inclusive Sport
If you’re looking for a more active way to celebrate, why not take to the court and try an inclusive sport such as wheelchair rugby? As one of the only full-contact disability sports out there, wheelchair rugby challenges outdated perceptions surrounding disabled athletes by showcasing disabled sport as tough, tactical and entertaining to both play and watch!
