Allied Mobility Supports Disabled Children’s Charity this Christmas

Scope is one of the UK’s leading disability charities, specialising in supporting people with Cerebral Palsy.  One of the services the charity provides is Scope Inclusion – on the ground teams specialising in supporting disabled children with the most complex of care, support and learning needs, in their home and in the local community.

This Christmas, the charity is campaigning to raise awareness of the benefits the Scope Inclusion service can bring, not only to the lives of disabled children, but also to the whole family.

With 80% of families who care for a disabled child reaching breaking point due to a lack of support, Inclusion workers are designed to help families avoid reaching this point.  Inclusion workers are much more than just people who go into the homes of disabled children to give support, they also often work with the same family for a long time and play an integral role in supporting the child to live as full a life as possible.

Meet Ryan

Ryan is a disabled child who lives with his mum, brother and grandparents in Morecambe.  Ryan needs round the clock care but with all the family leading busy lives they sometimes struggle to find the time to give Ryan all the fun opportunities that every child should enjoy.

The family needed extra support and so were put in touch with Scope’s Inclusion Service.  Scope were able to organise a highly trained Inclusion Worker, Jen, to look after Ryan one day a week.  The care Jen provides enables Ryan to become more sociable, outgoing and confident as well as giving his family a well earned break.

Ryan’s mum, Kelly, comments: “Ryan loves spending time with Jen.  He’s so much more outgoing and he’s met so many new people.  It’s brilliant.  Support from Scope has made a fantastic difference to our lives.”

The charity believes that with the right level of care and support, disabled children can thrive and benefit from being part of a family unit.
