Anonymous Donor Funds Katherine’s Wheels

4 year old katherine gets new wheelchair thumb

A four year old girl from Dover is the lucky recipient of a brand new wheelchair, thanks to an anonymous donor.

Katherine, who has a rare brain disorder called perventricular leukomalacia, gets tired very quickly because of her condition and relies on a wheelchair to get around.  As she grew too big for her old wheelchair, her mum launched a Go Fund Me to raise funds for a new one because a replacement wasn’t available on the NHS.

Generous Donation

An anonymous donor read about Katherine online and pledged an incredible £3,500 to the campaign which allowed the family to hit their target of £4,500.  Mum, Amy, said: “I’m so overwhelmed! I can’t say thank you enough.  The new wheelchair will improve Katherine’s independence.”

Katherine’s condition is common in babies who are born prematurely, causing nerve damage which can lead to problems with mobility, hearing loss and epilepsy.

The new wheelchair will make life much easier for Katherine when she starts school next month  and will allow her to get around easily.

Helping Hand

The family have raised more funds than needed for the chair so have decided to set a new goal of £6,000 so they can help some of Katherine’s friends with equipment.
