Disabled Access Day, on 12th March 2016 is all about visiting a place you haven’t been to before. This can be a restaurant, shop, theatre or sports attraction or somewhere completely new.
Two in a Row
The first Disabled Access Day ran last year when power chair user Paul Ralph attended a ‘try it out’ day with a bus company.
He said: “Prior to this I had not used the bus network in my hometown because I was unsure how things worked. During the ‘try it out’ day I found out what I need to know as a wheelchair using passenger. I then thought: Wouldn’t it be great if there were similar initiatives, happening across the country on one specific day?”
The second Disabled Access Day will take place on 12th March 2016 at over 150 locations in the UK. Large venues like the Eden Project are participating.
In the capital city there are over 30 events taking place.
Something for Everyone
In the capital city there are over 30 disabled access events taking place. The Royal Air Force Museum, London will allow you to try on uniforms or star in your own silent movie. However, the day is not just for history fans! With Leeds Grand Theater, the Life Science Centre, Newcastle and the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh all participating there is something for everyone!
