Disabled Cyclists Cycle Coast to Coast

Disabled cyclists in Bradford are determined to raise a total of £6,000 for their cycling group by embarking on an 182 mile bike ride.  The group, Cycling 4 All, is based at the University of Bradford and have already collected £2,500 to fund the trip, but want to raise more to allow for future excursions.  The group are aiming to ride from Morecambe, on the west coast of England, to Flamborough Head on the east.

The journey will cover a total of 182 miles, and will take place from the 3^rd to the 7^th of June.  The money already raised will cover the costs of accessible accommodation, transport and equipment throughout the trip.

Project assistant, Jess Waite, says: “The cyclists have been training since October and are dedicated to completing the challenge.  We’re the first university to do this so we hoping to generate a lot of interest in the ride.

The riders will be using a mixture of hand bikes, trikes and mountain bikes to complete the journey, depending on each person’s individual needs.

Cycling for All

Cycling 4 All was starting in 2011 as a free disability cycling scheme at the University of Bradford and works in partnership with local and national organisations like British Cycling and Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure.

Adam Tasker, project co-ordinator for Cycling 4 All comments: “Collectively, the group are aiming to raise a further £3,500 and garner a lot of publicity by doing their coast-to-coast cycle.  The money raised will go towards keeping Cycling 4 All activities going and allow us to expand in the new areas.

“This will be a challenging, yet rewarding experience for all those involved.”
