Disabled Youth Music Project Receives Massive Funding Boost

A music project for young people with disabilities has received a massive £30,000 funding boost.

The Positive Futures scheme, which is run by Bradford Council, offers specialist support, training and access to music facilities. The initiative was awarded the grant from national charity, Youth Music, who has invested in more than 350 projects across the UK.

The funding will give youngsters the opportunity to try their hand at music production and performance. Not only will the grant allow the young people to play and create music, it will also give them the chance to meet people with similar interests.

Massive Impact on the Lives of Disabled Children

Chris McMahon, a youth worker who is involved in the Positive Futures scheme believes that the grant will have a massive impact on their lives.

He said: “We are really excited to be able to work with young people to provide them with the chance to develop not only music and performance skills, but also their self-esteem and life experiences.

“Through using specialist music and youth work skills, we will be able to open doors to a new world of positive experiences and opportunities for young people who live with disabilities.”

Funding Available

Youth Music support musical opportunities for young people who face challenges including disabilities. Their funding helps around 75,000 children and young adults every year.
