After Britain’s bronze success at the 2014 Sochi Paralympics, wheelchair curling is more popular than ever.

Allied Mobility was proud to be a sponsor of the Stirling Wheelchair Curling International Invitation, which took place this week at Braehead Ice Rink.  Eight teams took part, hailing from as far away as Norway, Switzerland, Finland, Russia and the USA with the rest of the teams from home turf.

The event is in its eighth year but this is the first time Stirling Wheelchair Curling Club has hosted it.  Problems with their home venue meant the event was moved to Glasgow’s Breahead and they welcomed an excited crowd of spectators and supporters as the eight teams battled it out for first place.

Sporting Success

Norway emerged as victors after three days of round robin competitions and took home the Stirling Wheelchair Curling International Invitation plaque, coupled with a well earned bottle of Glengoyne whisky for each athlete.

Delighted skip of Team Norway, Rune Lorentson, commented: “We beat the silver and bronze Paralympic medallists Teams – Russia and Great Britain – so we’re happy!”
