With the introduction of the new Personal Independence Payment (PIP) due to begin in April, the government has launched a new online checker tool.  The web-based service is intended to help claimants, including those who use the Motability Scheme, find out how the change from Disability Living Allowance (DLA) will affect them.

The new tool can be found at www.gov.uk/pip-checker.  By answering a few questions claimants can find out how the new benefit may affect you, when your existing DLA might be affected and how to go about applying for PIP.

From 8 April 2013 PIP will replace Disability Living Allowance for people with a health condition or disability aged 16 to 64.  For information on how the new PIP scheme will relate to mobility vehicles supplied through the Motability Cars Scheme, click Motability PIP guidance here.
