Remploy Staff Re-employed

The New Year has brought new employment to one group of disabled people.

Like many others across the UK, disabled people employed by Remploy in Stirling found themselves out of work when the company closed its factory doors.  However the plant has now been bought over by Haven PTS, which has re-employed 26 of the former Remploy staff.
Textile company Haven says it is dedicated to a diverse workforce and committed to providing sustainable job for people with disabilities.

Employment Opportunities

The Stirling factory will be used to manufacture various types of textile and has recently been awarded a three year contract to produce nurse’s uniforms for the NHS.  The contract has the potential to be worth £1.5 million pounds and brings with it plenty of employment opportunities.

With an order for over 250,000 garments a year over the next three years, the factory is set to provide valuable employment for both disabled and able-bodied workers over the foreseeable future.

Support for Haven

Local MSP, Bruce Crawford, commented: “I warmly welcome the opening of the Haven PTS factory here in Stirling on the site of the former Remploy factory that was recently closed by the UK government.

“Hopes are high that further contracts can see that number increase, which is great news for the workforce.  I congratulate all involved.”

Haven, which also has operations in Inverness and Glasgow, provides a wide range of services to business.  These include secure storage, contract packing, printing, mailing solutions and quality inpsection.  In textiles, they are best known for personal protective equipment, marine safety clothing and workwear, which can be personalised to meet any organisational identity.
