Warrington Disability Partnership (WDP) is looking for participants to take part in it’s annual Going the Extra Mile Scuba Challenge to help raise funds for their Disability Awareness Day event.

The fundraising event, which takes place on Saturday 27th April, will see a team of divers undertake a 64-length challenge.  Participants will include Disability Partnership founder Dave Thompson,MBE, who is a full time wheelchair user and scuba diving enthusiast.

Disability Awareness Day 2013

Disability Awareness Day (DAD) is an independent living event which organisers say is Europe’s largest ‘not for profit’ voluntary-led disability exhibition.  Held annually since 1992, this year’s event takes place on Sunday, 14th July in a huge tented village within the grounds of Walton Hall Gardens in Warrington.

The show brings together over 250 exhibitors including equipment suppliers, holiday providers, sport organisations, employment advisors, support groups and services and is seen as an invaluable day for anyone who has a disability or knows someone with a disability.

It’s hoped money raised from the Going the Extra Mile Scuba Challenge will help to fund DAD 2013.  Last year the challenge raised £25,000 and organisers are hopeful they can match that total again this year.

If you’d like to take part in this year’s event contact dave.thompson@5bp.nhs.uk.
