AlliedGo™ Wheelchair Driving Range

Internal Transfer | Drive From | Upfront Passenger

Internal Transfer (IT), Drive From Wheelchair WAVs (DFW) and Upfront Passenger WAVs can make a huge difference to your driving choice or upfront passenger position. Having a vehicle that you can drive from in your wheelchair or transfer from your wheelchair into a specialised six-way seat is the ideal solution for independent drivers. Travelling in the upfront passenger position offers optimum seated eyeline as you travel next to the driver.

Our Customer Ask…

An Internal Transfer vehicle has a one-touch automatic tailgate release and wheelchair ramp unfold at the rear of the vehicle. Once you’ve entered the vehicle in your wheelchair, powerchair or mobility scooter, there’s ample space inside to transfer to the specialised six-way driver or front passenger seat and manoeuvre it into a comfortable position. If you plan on driving the Internal Transfer vehicle, it’ll be fitted with personalised driving adaptations.

Similarly to the internal transfer, a Drive-from wheelchair vehicle has a one-touch automatic tailgate and wheelchair ramp unfold at the rear of the vehicle. The standard driver seat has been removed so you can drive the vehicle directly from your wheelchair or powerchair, using personalised driving adaptations.

As above with the Drive-from WAV but you would position yourself in the passenger space next to the driver.

Our wheelchair driving cars are available to buy, hire or lease via the Motability Scheme. You can give our mobility advisors a call and they’ll talk you through your options. We have a page dedicated to finding out more about leasing wheelchair accessible cars through Motability – you can click Motability Scheme here for more information.

Another option, for wheelchair users who are able to do so, is to transfer from your wheelchair to a special car seat. With Ford Dream™, you can do this in comfort and safety from inside your vehicle, thanks to the clever, six-way seat. Electrically powered, this can be manoeuvred up and down, backwards and forwards and left to right. This enables you to position the seat alongside your powerchair, so you can pull yourself across into the six-way seat, then manoeuvre yourself into position for travelling.

As with Inspire™, the tailgate and ramp are automatically operated from your key fob, making Dream™ another great option for wheelchair drivers. Alternatively, the six-way seat can be fitted in the front passenger position, so as a wheelchair user can travel alongside an able-bodied driver.
