WAVs have been converted by mobility experts to allow a disabled passenger to travel in their wheelchair. With an Allied Mobility WAV, the vehicle floor is lowered and a foldable ramp or an electrically-powered ramp is fitted to the vehicle. This allows the wheelchair user to enter via the rear of the car.

Yes, you can have your Ford, Peugeot (excluding eHorizon™) and Citroen WAV serviced right outside your front door with our HomeStay™ vehicle service. For Motability Scheme customers, this service is included as part of your lease and means you don’t have to visit your local service centre – we come straight to you! HomeStay™ is also available on new and used WAVs purchased outright.

Unlike a standard mobility car, a WAV allows a wheelchair user to both enter the vehicle and travel in the comfort of their wheelchair. Some carers or wheelchair users themselves can find it difficult and uncomfortable to transfer to a standard seat from their wheelchair or powerchair.

Allowing the wheelchair user to travel from the comfort of their wheelchair/ powerchair, wheelchair accessible cars are oftentimes safer for wheelchair users, carers and families alike due to a range of accessibility features that make entry and exit of the vehicle easier for everyone.
