WAVs have been converted by mobility experts to allow a disabled passenger to travel in their wheelchair. With an Allied Mobility WAV, the vehicle floor is lowered and a foldable ramp or an electrically-powered ramp is fitted to the vehicle. This allows the wheelchair user to enter via the rear of the car.
Allied Mobility is the UK’s leading WAV conversions specialist. We build over 4,000 mobility vehicles each year and ensure each is credited with the highest safety certification.
Our wheelchair access cars are available to buy, hire or lease via the Motability Scheme. You can give our mobility advisors a call and they’ll talk you through your options. We have a page dedicated to finding out more about leasing wheelchair accessible cars through Motability – you can click Motability Scheme here for more information. We also offer a wide selection of used wheelchair accessible vehicles to suit a variety of budgets.

Unlike a standard mobility car, a WAV allows a wheelchair user to both enter the vehicle and travel in the comfort of their wheelchair. Some carers or wheelchair users themselves can find it difficult and uncomfortable to transfer to a standard seat from their wheelchair or powerchair.
Allowing the wheelchair user to travel from the comfort of their wheelchair/ powerchair, wheelchair accessible cars are oftentimes safer for wheelchair users, carers and families alike due to a range of accessibility features that make entry and exit of the vehicle easier for everyone.
What’s more, Allied Mobility build all of our own wheelchair cars which undergo rigorous safety testing and hold several industry safety accreditations such as EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval, PAS: 2012 and Individual Vehicle Approval.
With over thirty years’ experience of converting wheelchair accessible vehicles, our knowledge and commitment to innovation and continued improvement is second to none. From the initial conversion concept by our skilled design engineers through to our production team making the necessary adaptations to make your vehicle wheelchair accessible, we’re proud to be the UK’s leading wheelchair accessible vehicle supplier.
